Certification

Before a clinic can buy the OYATEC TECAR system, each practitioner who will use it completes our 10-hour course. Four hours are online theory you do at your own pace. Six are a hands-on day at our clinic in Friendswood, Texas, ending with a practical exam.

  • 4 hours online
  • 6 hours hands-on
  • Renew every 2 years

Good results with TECAR depend on technique: where the return plate goes, which head to use, and how much heat a fresh injury can take. We want patients to get the same careful treatment at every OYATEC clinic.

The certificate is also what patients see on our map. It tells them Dr. Ouyang's team has trained the practitioner on this system.

Online, at your own pace

Short video lessons and reading, with a quiz at the end of each module. Most people finish over a week or two of evenings. You need to pass every quiz before the hands-on day.

Hands-on day

6 h

OYATEC Flagship Clinic, Friendswood, Texas

A full day in small groups of up to eight. You treat other practitioners and volunteer patients under an instructor's eye, then take the practical exam. Lunch is provided.

  1. Online, 1.5 hours. The physics in plain terms, and what heat does to tissue.

    • Capacitive and resistive energy transfer
    • How the current travels between the head and the return plate
    • What heat does to blood flow, muscle tone and tissue repair
    • The three heat levels and when to use each

At the end of the hands-on day you give a full TECAR treatment to a volunteer while an instructor watches. With feedback, it takes about an hour, and it is the last of the six in-person hours.

What the instructor checks

  1. 01Screen the patient and explain the treatment
  2. 02Choose the right head, heat level and preset
  3. 03Place the return plate correctly
  4. 04Use steady technique and check the patient's heat rating
  5. 05Finish, clean up and record the session

If you don't pass on the day, the instructor tells you what to work on. You can retake the exam at no charge at the next session or by live video.
