What it is
The plantar fascia is a thick band of tissue along the sole of your foot, from the heel to the toes. Standing all day, running more than usual, new shoes or extra weight can overload it. It then becomes sore where it joins the heel.
The usual sign is sharp pain with the first steps out of bed or after sitting. It eases as you walk, then comes back after a long day on your feet.
How TECAR helps
- 1
The metal RET head warms the thick tissue under the heel, which has a poor blood supply. The flat CET head loosens the calf muscles, which are often tight and pull on the heel.
- 2
Your practitioner will usually add calf and foot stretches and may look at your shoes.

One patient's story
“I'm an ER nurse. The first steps out of bed used to make me wince, and by the end of a shift I was limping. Twelve-hour shifts are manageable again.”
