What it is
Tennis elbow is irritation of the tendon that joins the forearm muscles to the outside of the elbow. Most people who get it don't play tennis. It comes from repeated gripping and twisting: using tools, lifting, typing, gardening or carrying bags.
It hurts to grip a coffee cup, shake hands or turn a door handle, and it can ache at night.
How TECAR helps
- 1
This tendon has a poor blood supply, which is one reason it heals slowly. The metal RET head warms the tendon and brings more blood to it. The flat CET head loosens the forearm muscles that pull on it.
- 2
Your practitioner will usually add forearm exercises and may suggest changes to how you grip or lift.
What to expect
- Session length
- 10 to 20 minutes
- How often
- Twice a week
- What you'll feel
- Focused warmth around the elbow and down the forearm
- Often paired with
- Forearm exercises, acupuncture or massage
How many sessions
Most people have 6 to 10 sessions. Tennis elbow that has lasted many months may need more.

One patient's story
“I'm a finish carpenter, and gripping a hammer was the worst part of my day. After seven sessions I'm working full days again and sleeping through the night.”
